Save precious time with physio consultations at "Geneva Permanence Ostheopathique"
You need to see the physio (or ostheopath) but you work full time and don't want to take half a day off for a 45 mn consultation ? You are just like me ! You should not delay and book yourself an appointment with the Permanence Ostheopathique Geneve. This is what I did, so just giving you guys a quick review.
Where the hell is the Permamence Ostheopathique located ?
I was almost late as I could not figure out the location of the Physiotherapy Center. I had both the adress and Google map opened on my cellphone and that wouldn't work. I wished the person with whom I booked had told me. 10mn before my appointment, and because this is Switzerland, I called in panic the number (I certainly didn't want to be charged for missed appointment) and thanks to God and to their professionalism, someone picked up the phone at 7.50. They calmly oriented me to the center, and I got there in time. There was a lot of snow so I was scared I would have to sweat my way through uncleared pavement if the center was still far.
All that to say, it is located on Avenue des Grottes 67, 1201, hardly a 5mn walk from the train station. Google maps may direct you to the "Rue des Grottes" but that's wrong.
Did I like the physio consultation at the Permanence Ostheopathique Geneve ?
Like is not really the right word. Instead, I should say that I found all the staff very professional and the premises not only convenient but also giving a sort of "feel good" feeling, less cold than a typical doctor's waiting room. Just got the feeling there is an astute mind behind all this, quite different fro, the general "mentality" I perceive fronn swiss MD in general ;-)
Welcome at the reception
I first filled in a long form about my health and what I believed was causing my problems. Having seen it in other medical centers, I found it quite long but disregarded the usefulness.
The ostheopathe asked me to follow into the consultation room me slightly after 8am, which guaranteed that I could still be at work for 9.30am after a 45mn treatment.
During the treatment
The ostheopath had actually read the form and asked me very specific questions in relation to what I had written; I have to say I was positively surprised. So one hint, don't just tick any box to get to the end quick, you'll have to justify yourself !!!
I found the room quite cosy but felt unsure about the wall -not see-through- but not with complete opacity.
The treatment proceeded (I liked the ostheopath's perfume jajaja !!!!!)
Afterwards, he gave me precise explanations and answered my questions. My instructions were to not stay in the same position for more than 45minutes, which I obviously didn't follow, even though I tried to first day with my standing desk at work. When I got home at night, I wondered whether I had to wake up every 45mn while sleeping to change position, or if that happens naturally.
After treatment - payment for physiotherapy and health insurance
I was required to pay the consultation right after, cash, credit cards accepted (I had been informed when booking the appointment). I actually prefer it like that, up to a certain amount.
I was actually quite relieved to pay 130 CHF and not more. Because they ensure weekend and evening shifts, I thought it might impact overall fees. Feeling relieved to only pay 130 CHF may sound crazy from outside Switzerland, but I have had to set new medical-related expenses standards for myself since I moved to Geneva.
I received the receipt which I was able to send to my health insurance the same day. I booked a follow-up visit.
In summary:
PLUSES:
- The Permanence Ostheopathique Geneve Grottes offers extended times to treat patients, from 8am to 9pm, Mon to Sat. On Saturdays, there is a supplemental fee of 20 CHF.
- Efficient in the organisation of appointments: enough information is given, and they pick up the phone during extensive hours
- For most health insurances, especially if you work in UN agencies, a prescription is required for reimbursement.
- Centrally located: Avenue des Grottes 67, 1201 Geneva, +41 22 510 50 95
- Seem very professional and committed.
MINUSES:
- Payment has be made onsite: it may be an impediment for some
- I haven't seen women working there, I was surprised to see only males, including at the reception desk.
