Where to eat in Geneva: Fresh salad in FMR city center and Eric Emery
When settling in a new city, it is always helpful to be directed to the right places, so you don't waste time and money and disappointed afterwards. Today I am giving you 2 addresses of places where you can buy a nice and fresh salad for a lunch.
FMR, rue de la Rotisserie 29, 1204, Geneva
The place is quiet and sunny, with opportunity to eat outside.
Here, the focus is set on offering healthy salads for employees working nearby, in international organizations and private companies as well.
Note that Eric Emery is an award winning baker, so he is really specialized in breads. But he is also big on cakes and chocolates.

Funky Monkey Bar in Geneva city center: fresh and crispy salad leaves
I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the salad there, in that discrete hamburger bar restaurant located in the center of Geneva. I went one evening to have a drink with friends, and we ended ordering dinner. Because the place has a clean but still laid back atmosphere, I had figured not so much care would be given to the dishes served. Well, I was wrong. The service / the dish in FMR restaurant, Geneva:
The waiter came back quickly after my order with a huge salad made of green and appealing lettuce, crispy bacon, nice and firm cherry tomatos and a very nice salsa on top. The portion was generous, and I could not find any darkened corner of salad on the plate, jeez, that's impressive ! It was easy to see that a refined hand had been behind that nice cuisine. Later on, we asked the owner who happened to be on site and he confirmed that a chef is cooking everything. I had to thank him to allow us to have such good salads in Geneva!FMR, rue de la Rotisserie 29, 1204, Geneva
Bakery Eric Emery, in Petit-Saconnex: salad, bread & desserts
Change of venue. In this modern, well decorated bakery located in the "commune" (city) of Geneva canton, I have had the opportunity to come and have lunch with colleagues. The place is quiet and sunny, with opportunity to eat outside.
Here, the focus is set on offering healthy salads for employees working nearby, in international organizations and private companies as well.
Vegetarian menu at Eric Emery:
I chose by default the no meat menu, and I got a small salad with nuts, and a slice of bread. I usually eat a nice portion of white and red cabbage for lunch, with toppings like hummous or quinoa or leek sweetened with grape, plus peppers, celery, tomato, etc. So after swallowing the scarce salad leaves on my plate and a couple of nuts, I still felt hungry. Having a vegetarian meal does not mean you eat nothing... Next time I'll go for the chicken salad!Dessert in the Emery Petit Saconnex bakery:
For dessert, there is a variety of cakes and pies, as well as chocolate. I went for sugar free oat biscuits. My biscuit was good. The pieces of cake were tempting but sugar is addictive, so I did not give in...Note that Eric Emery is an award winning baker, so he is really specialized in breads. But he is also big on cakes and chocolates.
