Free guided tours Geneva city centre
You just arrived to Geneva and are about to spend your first weekend alone...not necessarily, because you may join a free guided tour of the city and start making acquaintances. I tell you how.
Geneva proposes free guided tours of the city centre. This initiative was launched in 2016 by the non profit organization FREEWALK. The freewalk tourist guided tour is offered, courtesy of amateurs guides and volunteers who feel like giving back to the city that has welcomed them. Most of them are passionate about the city and have a deep knowledge of the history of Genève buildings, monuments, museums, etc. The freewalk are organized in various cities across Switzerland, leveraging the local human resources to welcome tourists and newcomers to Geneva. I wish they existed when I arrived...
The beauty is that you actually don't have to book like in any tourist attraction! Just show up at 11am any day of the week, at the Tour de l'Horloge, Bel-Air, for the Heart of Geneva tour, or at the Broken chair, place des Nations, for the International freewalk tour. Note that the planning of excursions is available online.
The free guided tours of Geneva city centre take place 7 days a week, are free of charge and last 2 hours.
